Florence Harrison, Elfin Song, 1912

Infogalactic:

Florence Harrison (1877–1955) was an Art Nouveau and Pre-Raphaelite illustrator of poetry and children’s books. Many of her books were published by Blackie and Sons. She illustrated books by notable Pre-Raphaelite circle poets Christina RossettiWilliam Morris and Sir Alfred Tennyson. She has been previously known by name Emma Florence Harrison, although there is some dispute that this was correct. The works previously attributed to Emma may actually be by Florence Susan Harrison who was Australian.[1]

These drawings are yet another example of the glittering civilization that had grown in the early 1900’s, shortly to be ended in the horror of the First World War. We may never know how much we lost in the last century of strife.
